After 34 years as an administrative assistant in the financial services industry, I walked away from the hectic business world and began pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a freelance artist and art instructor.
Studying classical art since June 2017 at the Atelier at Flowerfield in St James under the direction of my teacher and mentor, William Graf, has helped me grow and hone my skills in drawing and painting.
In order to keep up with the cost of my art supplies and tuitions, I started a pet portrait business and sell painted pumpkins during the Halloween season.
Passionate since childhood about art, I paint in acrylics and oil, but also create artwork in graphite pencil, charcoal and colored pencil. Favorite subjects are animals, both wild and domestic, but have broadened my horizons to include still life, landscapes and portraiture.
My paintings have been featured at the Atelier at Flowerfield, St. James, The Long Island Museum, Stony Brook, Gold Coast Bank, East Setauket and Mills Pond Gallery, St. James where my painting, The Waiting, won Second Place in the Time Juried Fine Art Exhibition in May 2019.
Currently teaching the Youth Art & Art History Program at the Atelier at Flowerfield located in St. James, NY
By using many different mediums, such as oil, acrylic, charcoal and graphite, I believe that it enhances my artistic process.
Painting items that have meaning to me, like my teddy bear, my flute, favorite books, baseball items is so inspiring but the best feeling is when I finish a commission for a client and see the joy on their face when it’s delivered.
